What will you do?

The Product Owner is a member of the Agile Team responsible for turning concepts into amazing software products.This is accomplished through understanding the desired Capabilities, Features and target market while defining and prioritizing the Development Team Backlog. Here are some of the key activities for the role:

  • Work with product management, the platform architecture team, and other stakeholders to thoroughly understand the product strategy, functional and non-functional design intent for our platforms and products.

  • Collaborate in technical solution with engineering teams to translate requirements into architectural and design approaches

  • Own the customer-driven process to identify use cases and define user stories for different user roles and market segments

  • Collect Voice of the Customer data from customers and internal stakeholders and bring into the design of software and solutions

  • Represent the various User Personas to the Engineering Group

  • Facilitate continuous elaboration of requirements through pro-active collaboration with Product Management and Engineering management

  • Lead increment planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives

  • Present and demonstrate development progress and deliverables to stakeholders

  • Maintain the product backlog for products and solutions, ensuring that requirements are met through engineering deliverables

  • Rely on extensive experience and prior knowledge in enterprise software design to understand complex design problems and collaborate with team members to identify solutions

  • Research and analyze the market, the users, and the roadmap for the product.

  • Follow our competitors and the industry.

  • Keep abreast with both technology and process best practices and trends

How will you get there?

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Life Science or Software Development related field

  • 7+ years of applicable experience in Software Development as a developer, architect or product owner

  • Understanding of commercial enterprise software architecture and design as it relates to technical solutioning

  • Direct experience delivering software and SaaS solutions to customers

  • Hands-on, practical knowledge of Agile and SAFe methodologies

  • Experience in Laboratories for Life Sciences, Genomics, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing QA/QC, Food and Beverage or Oil and Gas industries preferred

  • Understands the importance of quality and meeting regulatory compliance needs

  • Experience, instincts, and enthusiasm around creating a fantastic user experience with performant and scalable software applications

  • Is authentic, transparent and leads by example, holding self and others accountable. Inspires, motivates and collaborates with others.

  • Anticipates needs and problems while creating solutions. Is willing to ask difficult questions and take risks. Greets challenge and change as opportunity.

  • Experience working with a geographically distributed team

  • A highly motivated fast learner who can self-start and 'figure out what needs figuring out.'

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment

The position can be in Branford, Connecticut; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Carlsbad, California (San Diego area); Altrincham, UK (Manchester area); or Madrid, Spain. We enjoy a relatively casual work environment, with open areas that foster collaboration. Like most places, we get very busy at times, but we value a healthy work/life balance.
