Lloyd Group Director, IT Applications in Philadelphia Area, Pennsylvania

Our client is seeking an organized, efficient Director of IT with a focus on Applications to join their growing organization. The Director of IT role is to ensure the streamlined operation of all IT services in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. This position is accountable for ensuring continuity of computer services for users throughout the organization through planning, technical leadership, and project coordination.

The person fulfilling this role will work directly with the company?s Managed Service Provider and application vendors to ensure continued support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions. They should have experience with project management, be process oriented, and take initiative.

Lastly, our client is a people first organization. They are looking for someone to take charge of IT initiatives while engaging with the team and holding vendors and partners accountable.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Application Specialist. Act as the company?s application expert, assisting with project management and integration of new applications. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop training programs for new & existing employees

  • Document applications and ensure training programs are developed for employees for new application versions

  • Update documentation and process to help better support the systems and applications

  • Manage support associated with company applications

  • Identify and act on opportunities to improve and update software and systems

  • Ensure software versions are up to date and under valid vendor support contracts

  • Application support and escalation following industry incident management and processes (ITIL)

  • IT Governance and Management. Responsible for the management of organization-wide systems and information to ensure they are performing correctly and aligned with business strategy and goals. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and reporting on the allocation of IT budget

  • Partnering with consultants and IT partners to develop and implement IT policy and best practice guides for the organization

  • Accountable for following the incident management process for all emergency related issues

  • Conducting regular system audits for network and data security

  • Running and sharing regular operation system reports with senior staff

  • Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages

  • Providing direction for Managed Services Provider and 3rd party application vendors

  • Identifying opportunities for team training and skills advancement

  • Ensure the organization has an accurate inventory of the assets, assets are under warranty and within useful life, and a roadmap is developed for future investment

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or technical discipline

  • Proven working experience as an IT manager or relevant experience of at least 5 years

  • Experience working with operations and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audience

  • Experience with, and understanding of, International Technology Infrastructure (ITIL) Processes and Procedures

  • Shows an interest in learning new materials and staying abreast of the latest technical information.

  • Preferred areas of technical expertise include but are not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (multiple version), Microsoft Server multiple versions), Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft Exchange, Accounting Software, Printer Management, Anti-Virus, Remote Desktop Technologies, Firewalls, and other network management solutions

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment

  • Responsibilities may require occasional weekend and/or evening work

  • Periodic travel may be required to various offices across the US
