What You Will Achieve
The Senior Associate Scientist is responsible for supporting mRNA production within the Vaccine Research and Development - Early Bioprocess Development group. The colleague will execute process activities required for the manufacture of DNA template, RNA drug substance, LNP drug product, and critical reagents. The responsibilities include UF/DF, affinity chromatography, column packing, and testing and analysis of in-process samples using various bioanalytical techniques. The colleague will be expected to summarize and evaluate study results. Detailed and accurate documentation of laboratory work and presentation of results is required.
How You Will Achieve It
Compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Complete all required trainings in compliance with departmental requirements and follow appropriate safety practices in the workplace
Plan, prioritize, and perform downstream processing of vaccine products and critical reagents
Perform in-process assays on vaccine products, process intermediates, and related experimental samples using biochemical/analytical tests
Collaborate with colleagues from partner groups in Vaccine Research and Development, including Bioprocess Fermentation, Analytical, and Formulation Development groups
Detailed, accurate, and timely documentation of experiments in a laboratory notebook
Qualifications
Must-Have
BS degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or related field with 2-5 years relevant experience, or a MS degree with 0+ years relevant experience.
Prior experience with bioprocessing/purification
Experience running chromatography with AKTA systems using UNICORN software
Proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software is desirable
Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
Self-motivated and a positive attitude
Ability to learn new techniques, follow instructions, keep accurate records, and comply with SOPs
Proven ability to work independently in hands-on laboratory setting and collaborate as part of a team
Nice-to-Have
Knowledge and ability to independently execute purification/recovery activities
Proficiency in various techniques such as FPLC/HPLC, UV-Vis, and SDS-PAGE to isolate and/or characterize biomolecules

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
