Overview

The Business Quality & Risk Support (BQRS) team is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and resourceful Advisor/Senior Advisor. You will be an integral part of a team of operational risk management professionals who are focused on ensuring appropriate standards and controls are embedded in EDC’s operations. Your keen analytical skills, effective collaboration abilities, and risk and control expertise will be valuable assets in carrying out project work and supporting the team’s mandate.

The BQRS team is offering an excellent career opportunity which will allow you to play an important role in a developing area involving enterprise-wide considerations.

We are recruiting for a current permanent vacancy, but this competition may also be used to fill future permanent and contract hiring needs over the next 12 months.

Responsibilities

Operations

  • Facilitate Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and New Initiative Risk Assessments (NIRAs) with process/initiative owners across EDC.

  • Act as an advisor on risks and controls based on customers’ business objectives and processes.

  • Identify and design controls for operational risks within EDC’s business processes and support the implementation of controls in collaboration with business teams.

  • Monitor and support response plans from RCSAs, NIRAs or Operational Loss Events.

Governance/Methodology

  • Create more effective risk management by establishing a liaison between the 1 st line and 2 nd Line, 3 rd line and control functions to coordinate and integrate assurance work.

  • Document, track and advise on risks, controls and issues.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of BQRS processes, methodologies and standards and provide input into Enterprise Risk Management methodologies such a RCSAs and NIRAs

  • Follow developments in governance and risk management practices to identify leading practices.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in Finance and/or Accounting or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum 5 years (Advisor) 8 years (Senior) experience in governance, enterprise risk management and/or audit, preferably in the financial services or insurance industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in governance, operational risk, audit and control design and assessment.

  • Excellent proficiency with SharePoint, and MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Experience planning and integrating control design and implementation

  • Demonstrated experience interacting and influencing line of business employees and management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including experience in drafting simple, clearly articulated documentation and presentations.

  • Ability to develop and deliver effective communication to improve business teams’ understanding of governance and control issues.

Assets

  • Knowledge of EDC’s business products, services and business applications.

  • Relevant Professional designations (e.g. CIA, CRMA, CMA, CPA).

  • Knowledge of both official languages (English and French).

Compensation Details:

  • Business Quality Process & Risk 17: Salaries typically range from $83,037 to $110,717 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive

  • Business Quality Process & Risk 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role will be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
