Your role

The program sector of the Ottawa-Gatineau regional station is looking for a radio producer to be assigned to the show "Les Matins d’ici."

Curious, creative, and innovative, you will be responsible for producing the morning radio show. You must implement strategies to reach our audiences and engage with them. You will provide leadership within the team to highlight our content in digital formats.

Your editorial judgment and deep understanding of journalistic standards and practices will allow you to oversee content preparation. You are bold in proposing relevant digital content (enhancements on Ohdio, vertical video) that fits current consumption habits.

You demonstrate flexibility and good adaptability, and you have a team spirit. You can collaborate in a newsroom, as well as coordinate with the cultural team and other show producers.

You embody and promote values of inclusion and respect in the workplace. You are familiar with the population, communities, and culture of the National Capital Region, Outaouais, and Eastern Ontario.

The work is governed by Radio-Canada's policies, standards, and practices regarding journalism and programming.

This is a permanent full-time position. The selected candidate may be required to work overtime, and the schedule may change based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify priority topics for show content and organize team work to ensure production.

  • Determine the style, angle, composition, and format of audio content.

  • Supervise all types of journalistic content for the show (news, interviews, weather, sports, culture, traffic).

  • Conduct pre-interviews and research as needed.

  • Have a good understanding of different formats in radio and digital audio.

  • Propose original interview ideas.

  • Lead production meetings for the show.

  • Review digital content and provide feedback to colleagues.

  • Design and develop ideas and concepts, and participate in setting objectives.

  • Prepare coverage plans and deployments.

  • Evaluate all aspects of a production, including staff performance.

Desired Profile:

  • University degree or equivalent

  • Five (5) years of experience, including three (3) in a related field directly tied to the position

  • Deep knowledge of radio

  • Excellent mastery of digital writing standards and conventions, with strong writing and editing skills

  • Relevant experience in content production

  • Knowledge of Radio-Canada's mandate and journalistic standards and practices

  • Excellent understanding of the issues in the Ottawa-Gatineau region

  • Knowledge of cultural and social events and issues in Outaouais and Eastern Ontario, with a strong interest in them

  • Commitment to reflecting community and diversity

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines

  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Resourcefulness and initiative

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure

  • Excellent editorial judgment

  • Proficiency in written and spoken French

  • Very good knowledge of English
