Student and New Grad Opportunities

Our student development opportunities include work terms and co-op programs – all designed to give your career a head start. Work terms are typically four or eight months in length and can be counted towards an accredited co-op program with your university.

Our program is also open to new grads who have graduated in the past year.

This student role will be working at Export Development Canada (EDC) in environmental, social and governance (ESG). Team & Job Overview

This role will be within the ESG-Integration VP group, supporting the Sustainable Finance team.

The ESG-Integration group is responsible for developing and implementing EDC's ESG policies, which guide EDC's non-credit risk management approach, as well as monitor, and remain aligned with current market ESG trends. Responsible for establishing a central ESG reporting hub, providing governance and impact measurement of EDC’s ESG performance. Responsible for defining and driving EDC’s net zero efforts through Sustainable Finance and Climate and Energy Transition teams.

Students’ capabilities will be assessed against the requirements for the Sustainable Finance team.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Support transaction review and evaluation for eligibility against EDC’s

  • Sustainable Finance Framework and Sustainable Bond Framework.

  • Assists with project benchmarking against international environmental, social, enterprise risk management standards.

  • Assists in research to support development of Sustainable Finance, frameworks, positions, projects etc.

  • Assists in preparing materials for senior team members or leadership.

  • Supports special projects (i.e. document management, data analysis, process design, content for internal awareness and education campaigns, stakeholder engagement etc.)

Screening Criteria

  • Currently in or within 1 year of graduation from an undergraduate or masters degree in a relevant field, such as Sustainable Business, Sustainability and Financial Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Sustainability, Human Rights, Social Justice Studies or other relevant disciplines;

  • English proficiency: bilingual in both official languages (French and English) preferred.

Assets

  • Experience in data analytics or portfolio reporting.

  • Experience working in sustainable finance (including portfolio monitoring, asset identification, and bond issuance).

  • Experience working in financial services or federal crown corporation.

  • Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal
