Your role

With appropriate direction from a producer and/or director, you organize and contribute to the preparation, production and post-production work on videos for television or other media platforms. Although work is generally performed according to accepted standards and procedures, there is latitude for independent judgment and initiative. At the same time, there is a high requirement for accuracy and attention to detail. Work regularly involves the coordination of the activities of others.

You will be responsible for preparing the required materials and will assist in the presentation of scripts. You will also be responsible for gathering information required to produce the show, ensuring that the necessary revisions are made to lineups, and informing all affected personnel of any changes. You will also compile and proofread all information for credit lists and keys.

You will request facilities, as well as the necessary technical, design and post-production resources, and ensure coordination of these bookings during the development and modification of the production schedule.

This is an on-call position for replacement coverage. Shifts are primarily Monday to Friday, from 4:45 PM to 8:45 PM. Candidates may be asked to work different shifts based on operational needs (day and/or in the evening). This role will mainly involve working on newscasts produced at the Ottawa Production Centre but may also include contributing to other television and radio programs.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • College diploma in radio and television arts or the equivalent

  • Three (3) or more years’ relevant experience during which you have become familiar with the fields of television production, IT, and broadcasting technologies is an asset

  • Superior French-language skills (spoken and written); working knowledge of spoken and written English is an asset

  • Good knowledge of newsroom operations

  • Proven knowledge of iNEWS, the Google suite, and MediaCentral editing software

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to research and gather information from a variety of sources

  • Good technical and production skills

  • Excellent prioritizing and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated attention to accuracy under time constraint

  • Solid organizational skills

  • Openness to new work methods

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
