This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This new space will enable teamwork, collaboration and innovation that will help us to achieve our mission to electrify life in one generation . This position will be temporarily based in Courtice , ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.
JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation inc. (OPG) is seeking a dynamic, strategic and results driven professional to join our Project Excellence Management Office in the role of Project & Control Engineer/Officer (PCO) on Cost, Schedule, and Integration Team.
Reporting to the Manager Project Control, this position will focus on the financial oversight of project expenditures and cost controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost management, analysis, and governance processes, ensuring project reporting is aligned to the protocols and procedures established with the PMO framework enforcing compliance and transparency.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
As a project team member responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and driving the Front-End Planning Process.
Provide business units support in developing, maintaining, and updating project cost baselines and budgets in collaboration with project managers and finance teams.
Collaborate with project managers to address variances, adjusting project plans and budgets as needed to maintain financial control.
Set up applicable source systems (AS9, EcoSys, ePMX etc.) as required and ensure alignment with project control systems. Maintain alignment between source systems and project control systems throughout project life cycle.
Facilitate project metrics reporting and variance analysis. Identify actual and potential deviations from the approved annual, release or life cycle-budgets or schedules to the Project Manager. Recommend corrective actions.
Perform cost management for projects in accordance with OPG’s project management governance.
Prepare and obtain approval of applicable change control documentation.
Facilitate and support project financial close out process.
Assist with continuous improvement of PMO processes and procedures.
Assist with development and continuous improvement of the project controls information system.
Maintain document project file which provides an auditable trail throughout the project lifecycle including project approvals, change control and close out.
EDUCATION
• 4-year university degree, with preference given to engineering, business, or finance
• Project Management Profession (PMP) certificate), and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) certification is considered an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary in project planning, scheduling, risk management, and control service needs of the division.
Clear understanding of project controls principles, theories, and concepts such as project scoping, risk management, estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
Extensive experience with cost management software and similar tools for budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Proficiency in EcoSys is an asset.
Proficient knowledge of P6 is an asset.
Knowledge and solid understanding of the interrelationships and role of organizational units, interrelationships between work groups, stakeholders, and the mechanics of resolving any controversial issues.
Project Management experience within a Nuclear, Hydroelectric or Thermal generating facility within a project management support capacity.
Experience with the application of work methods, resourcing of work, and logical sequencing of events and resolution of common problems in these areas.
The ability to collaborate and communicate well, both verbally and written, is essential.
Ability to present information clearly and effectively.
Comfortable working with / learning the application of various computer systems and software.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
