Mutual of Omaha Underwriter (Assoc,Underwriter,SR,Consultant) Workplace Solutions-Omaha, NE or Remote in OMAHA, Nebraska

Under limited supervision, underwrites smaller group insurance new business cases in accordance with company's risk tolerance levels. Evaluates renewal business and other rate and risk bearing analysis for existing clients within established approval limits. Works within established approval limits that involve minimal complexity, risk, and financial impact.


  • Start date of this position will begin approximately Jan 1, 2022

  • Under direct supervision, analyzes data related to suitability for all annuity cases, in order to mitigate financial risk to the company.

  • Under direct supervision, communicates with brokers, agencies, and/or other sources concerning outstanding requirements and procedures.

  • Analyzes data related to the risk being underwritten for small new business cases, in order to mitigate financial risk to the company.

  • Conducts research in order to secure additional data needed to make determinations on benefits and rates. Communicates with sales, brokers, and/or other sources concerning underwriting requirements and procedures.

  • Evaluates renewal business and other rate and risk bearing analysis for inforce groups.

  • Maintains current knowledge of underwriting guidelines, pricing guidelines and product knowledge.

  • Consistently meets or exceeds quality of work and time service expectations.

  • Reviews industry publications and stays abreast of Federal, State and business regulations governing group insurance products.

  • This position requires extensive or prolonged typing/keyboarding.

  • This position is in a fast-paced, high volume environment with set production goals.

  • This position requires sitting over 66% of the time.

  • This position requires Visual Acuity at 20 inches (or less) over 66% of the time.

This job posting is reflective of the Associate Underwriter essential functions, qualifications, and physical requirements. The Underwriting, Senior and Consultant levels have variable essential functions, qualifications and physical requirements.   • Ability to travel to the field to visit the group offices, attend broker events, for training purposes, or other industry functions (conferences etc.).


  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, and/or related field; or equivalent experience in insurance industry.

  • Knowledge and experience with group life, disability and dental product lines preferred.

  • Previous group underwriting skills and experience preferred.

  • Salary range: $40,000 to $100,000

  • Pay commensurate with experience.
