Mutual of Omaha's Back-End Application Developers (Java / Spring Boot) design and develop our next-generation solutions. You will improve how millions of people access and interact with our products, the way business partners support our customers and use data, as well as explore new technologies to better meet those needs.

  • Professionally solved challenges for backend application development and implementation over the last one to three years with:

  • Java, Spring Boot, SQL, REST APIs, and integration

  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

  • Develops tests (preferably with Spock/JUnit) and uses version control

  • Understands the Agile mindset and iterative development process

  • Adheres to coding quality standards

  • Steers productive team communication and collaboration on problem solving

  • Positively impacts team success by multi-tasking and adapting to priority changes

  • Driven to pick-up new tech through research and investigation

  • You:

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)


  • Based on assignment and under the direction of senior analysts, provides programming, technical and production support for applications, technical systems and software platforms.

  • Use working knowledge of programming languages, platforms and technologies to provide technical and/or business solutions to customers.

  • Analyze, develop, modify, install, test and maintain software within assigned domain.

  • Participate in and assist with the development of application and/or technical integration solutions.

  • Responsible for analyzing and resolving application and/or infrastructure technical problems and coordinates resolution activities at a team level and/or within business areas.

  • Conducts data collection, maintenance, and analysis activities to facilitate the development of alternative solutions based on assignment.

  • Understands team’s services, products, and value to I/S areas, business areas and Agile Release Train.

  • Works with and manages help desk ticket queue and provides customer service to business partners through research and resolution of help desk tickets.
