Garmin Team Leader IT Security Operations in Olathe, Kansas

POSITION SUMMARY: \n\nDefense - SOC Team:\nThe Team Leader for IT Security Operations will be a technical subject matter expert for all security operations for Garmin’s security operations center (SOC). In addition, will provide guidance and direction to the SOC for all security related events/ incidents in high pressure situations. The team lead must display extensive proficiency and technical knowledge of cybersecurity pertaining to threats, anti-virus/ anti-malware tools, endpoint detection and response tools, firewalls, event logs, other security tools and cyber security methodologies. \n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\n\nDefense - SOC and Offensive team:\n\n\n\tLead a team of associates responsible for the execution of features, tools, and/or technologies associated with Garmin’s agile scrum teams.\n\tEffectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels within the organization to ensure mitigate cyber security risks in the environment. \n\tDirectly supervise team members with daily regular interactions, including managing teams work load\n\tOversee training and mentoring of new associates\n\tMonitor progress of the team in meeting deliverables and schedule compliance\n\tProvide operational leadership for day-to-day activities and strategic direction \n\tResearch and recommend new technologies to meet the business needs\n\tPlan and schedule work, including the allocation of resources and planning team members’ work\n\tDevelop and continuously improve the way in which IT solutions are delivered\n\tParticipate as needed or as required in regular or special meetings of the Cyber team to address their strategies, their integration, their progress and/or issues needing promotion of problem solving.\n\tMotivate team to achieve optimum results and productivity quality and performance\n\tAble to discern when to escalate issues to management\n\tMaintain team alignment with the manager and department\n\tMaintain, improve, and extend existing software\n\tSet the tone for the team environment and build health team relationships.\n\tRecruit, develop, and retain a high performing team\n\n\nDefense - SOC team:\n\n\n\tConduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures ensuring all events/ incidents are executed and documented as required by current standards\n\tProvide guidance, training, and mentoring to SOC team members including leadership to improve the overall capabilities of the team.\n\tEffectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels within the organization to ensure mitigate cyber security risks in the environment. \n\tAssess the current state of the SOC from a program perspective and implement improvements to the pillars of people, process and technologies in the cyber security space\n\tProvide relevant and accurate metrics using industry and Garmin standards of cyber threats\n\tGuide, develop, document and assess operational runbooks in the response to incidents against the NIST framework to provide repeatable and measurable workflow\n\tAssess technical skillset of the SOC and develop/ execute a training plain in accordance with industry and Garmin standards \n\tAdhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated\n\tDemonstrates broad understanding of Garmin's business model, including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales and Marketing\n\tMeasures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations\n\tUnderstands and avoids potential threats and drives counter measures for IT managed systems\n\tEnsures that all SOC requirements are met or exceeded\n\tProvides significant contributions to defining team roadmap and priorities\n\tProvides innovation within area of expertise\n\tRecognized as an expert in assigned discipline at Garmin and applies extensive technical expertise and analysis to initiatives\n\tDemonstrates professional maturity through giving and receiving constructive feedback\n\tConflict is appropriately addressed effectively without appreciable oversight \n\n\n\nOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\n\n\tPerform other duties as necessary\n EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:\nBachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR a Master of Science Degree in one of the fields noted above AND a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. \n\n\n\tHighly proficient in anti-virus/ anti-malware, endpoint detection and response, perimeter, event logs and other security tools\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting\n\tMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others\n\tDriven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems\n\tExcellent time management and follow-up skills \n\tConsistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization\n\tPrevious experience in management or leadership\n\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
