Garmin Information Security Architect 1 in Olathe, Kansas

Garmin is hiring a Security Architect in our Olathe office. Provides leadership in project execution and design of new or existing security systems or applications across multiple functional, system, or module areas. \n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\n\n\n\tDevelopment and design of security architecture\n\tDevelop understanding of architecture of systems with current security issues and risks\n\tLeads security analysis utilizing trends, threat analysis, and current business understanding. From this analysis diagnose or make recommendations for security improvements and risk mitigation\n\tUnderstand future business growth needs and determines impacts and risks to the security architecture \n\tUnderstand project or release requirements and determine impacts and risks to the system security\n\tProvide cost effective architecture recommendations to support the security system’s growth, maintain stability and provide a good user performance experience\n\tThese recommendations could be infrastructure changes, software to support the application, or configuration recommendations. Solutions or recommendations should also take into account scalability for future growth needs.\n\tResearch and Identify new technologies to improve system/data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. \n\tLeads or assists technology and product assessments, performing evaluations as required and making acquisition recommendations.\n\tCreate and maintain architecture related strategies for existing and new solutions.\n\tIdentifies and develops improvements to procedures and processes to satisfy security architecture requirements and streamline operations.\n\tServes as a business wide leader in project execution and design of new or existing security architectures\n\tConduct requirements gathering/design sessions for new functionality and customizations \n\tTest custom applications\n\tGathers and documents complex requirements for business needs and independently determines complex solution designs across multiple functional/systems/module areas\n\tTranslates, negotiates and communicates architectural and development concepts across development teams \n\tDevelops project documentation including statements of work, detailed project plans, architecture designs, detailed implementation plans, deployment plans, project test plans and operational training materials \n\n\nOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\n\n\tParticipate in project definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs\n EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:\n\n\n\tBachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 7 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience\n\tExperience with duties listed above\n\tDemonstrated experience in Linux, Windows, TCP/IP protocol suites, Internet routing protocols, threat analysis, malware forensics, packet analysis, encryption, and security control implementation and maintenance.\n\tDemonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions\n\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
