Garmin Aviation Maintenance Instructor 2 in Olathe, Kansas

This dynamic position is responsible for teaching the maintenance technicians of today and tomorrow about Garmin Avionics. In this position you will provide customer service, technical support and training to internal and external customers including Garmin dealers, OEMs, fleets, and technicians. This position will also assist in developing content for classroom instruction, seminars, and electronic content. Lead the development, prioritization, coordination, and implementation of maintenance training programs and department initiatives.\n \n\nIn this role, you’ll also be responsible for these essential functions:\n\n\n\t\n\tProvide avionics operations support to Garmin customers via phone, fax and email\n\t\n\t\n\tConfer with Directors, Managers, Supervisors and System Engineers to determine internal and external training needs\n\t\n\t\n\tOrganize and develop training syllabus, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials\n\t\n\t\n\tDevelop new maintenance training programs associated with the introduction of new products / services for external & internal customers\n\t\n\t\n\tIndependently conduct Regional Dealer Training events\n\t\n\t\n\tTrain and mentor Aviation Maintenance Instructors\n\t\n\t\n\tPresent training seminars\n\t\n\t\n\tRepresent Garmin at industry and professional meetings and conferences\n\t\n\t\n\tWork with OEM avionics partners in support of OEM training programs involving Garmin avionics\n\t\n\t\n\tServe as contact with FAA on pilot training initiatives involving avionics\n\t\n\t\n\tFlexibility to travel domestically or internationally (up to 25% of time or greater)\n\t\n\t\n\tPossess, or readily attain, a valid passport\n\t\n\t\n\tReview Garmin manuals and provide input to on improvements\n\t\n\t\n\tProvide customer and operational input to other Garmin Aviation teams to help improve Customer Experience\n\t\n\t\n\tUpdate and troubleshoot Garmin desktop training kiosks for internal training purposes\n\t\n\t\n\tAccept and complete projects and other miscellaneous Aviation Support duties as assigned\n\t\n Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to performing the essential functions of this job description OR a minimum of 4 years’ experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description. Other required skills include:\n\n\n\tInternal candidates must have a minimum of 6 months as an Aviation Maintenance Instructor 1 or demonstrated performance as evaluated by a management panel\n\tMust possess a minimum of 5 years avionics line maintenance or installation experience.\n\tDemonstrated proficient knowledge of Garmin avionics products\n\tMust demonstrate proficiency using a presentation program (Prezi, Power Point, Keynote etc.)\n\tMust be detail-oriented and work proactively and effectively\n\tAbility to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\n\tMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others\n\n\nCandidates with the following qualifications are highly preferred!\n\n\n\tExperience at a Garmin dealer or experience installing or maintaining Garmin avionics\n\tCustomer service experience\n\tExperience in developing interactive, multimedia training materials\n\tKnowledge of competitive avionics\n\tPractical experience in post-secondary or adult education \n\tAdvanced understanding of Power Point\n\tASTM/NCATT AET Certification and associated endorsements\n\tA&P License\n\n\nOur benefits are designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life.
