Garmin Senior Systems Test Engineer - Auto OEM in Olathe AOEM Center, Kansas

Lead testing efforts for complex automotive infotainment programs and/or retrofit product lines including planning system test activities, identification and development of new testing methods and tools, and providing mentoring and guidance to less experiences systems test engineers


  • Serves in leadership capacity to plan system test activities, complete robust testing of several complex functions, develop new testing methods, update system testing processes and guidance accordingly

  • Provides review of system requirements and identifies future system testing needs

  • Tracks products in development and plans system test activities required

  • Proactively identifies and implement methods to automate testing efforts

  • May define and build new test panels that improve usefulness, ease and cost of building

  • Implements methods for ensuring the support effort for simulator companies is more efficient

  • Leads coordination efforts for collaborative requirement allocation and system testing activities

  • May define and/or develop system testing tools that span multiple organizations, projects, or programs

  • Supports establishing program/project-specific execution plans for system-level aspects compatible with Garmin processes, including initial discussions with the customer

  • Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced Systems Test Engineers (1 & 2)

  • Provides reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques

  • Provides technical input to product development plans and concept documents

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or another related field from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge and troubleshooting skills of complex integrated avionics functions

  • Demonstrates mastery of tools used in avionics systems testing

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems

  • Broad technical knowledge and skills in one or more areas of avionics systems and product development
