Canadian Tire Senior Financial Analyst in Oakville, Ontario
What you’ll do
The CTFS Corporate Accounting team is committed to the Finance division’s mandate and consists of highly skilled, focused and motivated finance professionals. As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be required to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to complete reporting and analysis activities for Canadian Tire Bank, including its securitization trust, Glacier Credit Card Trust. Your technical expertise and analytical skills are critical for success, as is your ability to communicate, collaborate and manage multiple deadlines.
Ensure the financial results for CTFS are in compliance with IFRS and provide accurate and timely reports and analysis to Management and external stakeholders
Prepare and review significant analyses, reports, cash flow statements, journal entries and reconciliations as part of the monthly financial reporting and review process
Analyze significant variances, key metrics and business trends
Assist with preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
Prepare the quarterly MD&A for Glacier Credit Card Trust
Identify and execute process improvements
Provide recommendations on accounting treatment for transactions, business initiatives and contracts in accordance with IFRS
Execute and maintain documentation of controls
Assist with quarterly and year-end audit requirements
Work on special projects as required
Provide supervision and coaching to other team members within the department
What you bring
University degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
CPA designation required
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting/finance experience, including the preparation of financial statements
Ability to act decisively and deal with deadlines during peak periods
Strong attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships
Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the “big picture” in a complex business environment
Advanced PC skills including Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with internal and external audit processes
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft accounting system is an asset
Financial institution and/or securitization experience is an asset
