Canadian Tire Data Scientist in Oakville, Ontario

The mandate of the Customer Analytical Center of Excellence of Canadian Tire Bank is to provide world class analytics to maximize our credit card portfolio profitability by balancing risk with reward potential.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyze portfolio performance and translate results into actionable recommendations

  • Develop, maintain, support, and monitor IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss and Stress Test models

  • Work closely with Finance and Credit Risk teams to apply a rounded understanding of the portfolio into the work you produce

  • Provide clear communication of analyses and results to key stakeholders and senior management

  • Manage multiple work assignments in a constantly changing business environment

What you bring

  • University degree in a quantitative discipline, Mathematics, Statistics, preferred

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a predictive modeling, data analytics, or data science role

  • Proven ability to program in pertinent languages, including SAS, SQL, Excel

  • Proven ability to translate business needs into statistically sound solutions, and vice versa

  • Big picture thinking: Ability to step back and understand impacts on a larger scale

  • Strong written and oral communication skills when presenting analytical results to business stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of IFRS9 and Expected Credit Loss (PD, LGD, EAD methodologies)

  • Knowledge of Credit Risk Management

  • Knowledge of Macroeconomic Stress Testing
