Service Source Senior Proposal Manager in Oakton, Virginia

Job Summary Responsible for identifying and pursuing funding opportunities that align with the organization's strategic priorities, supporting a range of rehabilitation programs and services. The Senior Proposal Manager plays a key role in writing and coordinating the development of proposals, taking the lead in content creation. This position involves collaborating with teams and partner organizations, as well as subject matter experts, to produce winning proposals that secure new program awards and increase revenue for supporting individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment. Additionally, the Senior Proposal Manager oversees the proposal development process, including pipeline tracking through Salesforce, and contributes to capacity development within the department and organization through training and mentoring. This position will have a hybrid remote work schedule with some occasional travel to headquarters in Oakton and other affiliate offices. Candidates can be located in any of the regions where we have offices: New Castle, DE; Fayetteville, NC; Clearfield, UT; Oakton, VA, Charlottesville, VA and Clearwater, FL.

  • Write lead summary sheets, winning proposals, capability packages, briefings, and other organizational documents to include but not limited to, mid-year and end of year performance reports, and annual strategic plan briefings.

  • Coordinate teams to develop comprehensive, compelling proposals.

  • Create visually engaging proposals through effective use of graphics and formatting.

  • Manage the entire proposal development process, including maintaining a library of proposal content and reusable material, ensuring the upkeep of proposal tools, and overseeing the writing, editing, proofing, formatting, and successful submission of proposal.

  • Provide training, guidance, coaching and support to other proposal development staff, enhancing their skills and capabilities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to determine funder requirements and identify reusable proposal content.

  • Monitor and analyze funding needs, aligning efforts with strategic priorities.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop proposal sections through interviews, process management and proposal development tools.

  • Edit/proof organizational documents for content, voice, consistency, and competitiveness.

  • Ensure proposals are responsive to funder guidelines, compliant with federal procurement requirements and meet overall organizational quality standards.

  • Build and maintain monthly reports to track progress toward meeting strategic goals.

  • Assist with planning and implementation of the annual Strategic Plan meeting held in the Oakton, VA office

  • Assist with mid-year and end of year reports, briefings, and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, English, Psychology, or related field.

  • Experience in grant or proposal writing is required.

  • Nonprofit experience is strongly preferred.

  • Project management and/or strong organizational skills are essential.

  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are required, along with technological proficiency and graphics capability.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word (advanced level preferred), Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, and/or SharePoint, is required. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and/or InDesign is also required.

  • Must be able to write effective proposals to various funding sources, including private, corporate, and government solicitations.

  • Experience with Salesforce is preferred.

  • Excellent organizational, written, editing, proofreading and grammatical skills, along with strong graphics and communication abilities.

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong research and analytical capabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and respond promptly to requests.

  • Well-organized, with effective time management skills and the ability to manage priorities and projects simultaneously, pivoting between tasks based on urgency.

  • Progressive and innovative thinker with critical thinking skills essential for problem-solving and informed decision-making.

  • Strong public speaking skills

  • Ability to travel to affiliate offices at least once per year.

  • Proficiency in utilizing various online proposal submission formats.

  • Ability to read and understand a Request for Proposal and/or Performance Work Statement (PWS) required.
