Presbyterian SeniorCare Network Household Support Assistant in Oakmont, Pennsylvania

Performs a variety of cleaning and servicing tasks in all areas to ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment. Provides care and assists residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Environmental Services

Maintains all flooring in community. Has the knowledge and ability to operate floor maintenance equipment; including buffer, extractor and scrubber. Waxes floors as required.

Collects and transports all supplies assigned, such as recyclables, linens, medical wastes and resident hygiene needs.

Move and organizes furniture as assigned for residents, families and team members.

Completes all daily project assignments that include but are not limited to: resident and office moves, transport and delivery of new furniture, wall washing and special function set ups inside and outside of the building; decoration storage and delivery, etc.

Reports mechanical failure or safety hazards to appropriate personnel to facilitate repair and replacement.

Maintains constant attention to safety while performing routine tasks, utilizing appropriate safety procedures and equipment to provide a safe environment for residents, team members and visitors.

Personal Care

Provides assistance to residents with ADLs to ensure good hygiene, grooming and self-esteem. Promptly answers call lights.

Reports changes in resident’s status through documentation and verbal communication to ensure continuity of care. .

Collaborates with other team/household members to ensure a person-centered culture in meeting the needs and desires of residents and other team members.

Conducts planned and spontaneous activities with residents to encourage socialization and promote self-esteem.

Serves food according to instructions to meet therapeutic needs. May prepare meals.

Participates in all required training and education programs

Is proficient in implementation of emergency procedures for accident, fire, weather alert, elopement or other disaster.

Education and/or Experience

High School or GED required

Computer Skills

Ability to use computer or laptop for documentation purposes.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

To complete certification requirements in Dementia Care and DHS Direct Care training during orientation period

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
