National Grid is hiring a Senior Project Manager, Electricity Capital Project Delivery for Massachusetts This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

The Portfolio Development & Resource Planning Team is tasked with planning the electric transmission and distribution 10-year portfolio of work that delivers National Grid’s business plans that are expected to grow to approximately $1.5B by 2034. The Team has proven to be a vital component of successfully delivering the capital work plan.

A Senior Project Manager in Project Development & Resource Planning will work collaboratively with the Asset Management sponsors to develop complex electrical construction projects. The most viable option will be modeled, utilizing Primavera P6, providing the ability to schedule and forecast the option as it progresses through the Network Development Process. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager may perform resource analysis for construction groups across the lines of business to ensure appropriate workloads.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop complex project schedules using the agreed work breakdown structure to support engineers, project managers, and constructors.

  • Progress portfolio of project schedules monthly in alignment with the monthly reporting cycle by checking accuracy and consistency of data and then forecasting in Copperleaf C55.

  • Apply reasonable assumptions based on potential risks to project schedules and forecasts during the early stages of the Network Development Process.

  • Prepare documentation with sufficient key detail to allow the execution project team to proceed forward without the need for rework.

  • Perform resource analysis of constructors by reviewing all of their work to efficiently assign project to accomplish the work plan.

  • Act as a subject matter expert to help define key schedule details for project phase durations and integration into the multi-year work plan by deconflicting outages across the portfolio.

  • Support the activities of other team members, providing advice and coaching as necessary.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management as it relates to project management.

  • The ability to support, communicate and effectively develop working relationships at all levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction project management, project controls, or schedule management. 3+ years of related experience in addition preferred.

  • Demonstrated high level of personal initiative, integrity, and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, and regulatory representatives.

  • Knowledge of transmission & distribution line and substation projects including their durations, issues, typical activities, etc.

  • Understanding of project interaction regarding outage plans and needs.

  • Must have Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills. Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project a plus.

  • Experienced in fact finding including knowledge and understanding of where to find and how to present relevant information in a supportive way when working with sponsors and other subject matter experts.

  • Experienced in influencing, persuading, communicating, challenging, and negotiating.

  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.

Salary - $115,000 - $135,000
