Pearson Senior Royalty Operations & Accounting Administrator in Noida, India

Position Overview:

The Senior Royalty Operations & Accounting Administrator will be responsible for managing the royalty accounting processes and ensuring accurate and timely royalty payments to content creators, authors, and other stakeholders across the globe – US, UK, Canada, APAC, and other European regions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles, royalty calculations, and financial reporting standards within the education technology industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Royalty Calculations: Calculate royalties owed to licensors, authors, or other stakeholders based on contractual agreements, and usage data from our digital platforms. Ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual terms and industry regulations.

  2. Payment Reconciliation: Coordinate the processing of royalty payments matching, including analysing royalty payments data, and reconciling payments with accounting records. Verify payment calculations and ensure timely disbursement of royalties to authors.

  3. Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date records of royalty agreements, usage data, payment transactions, and related documentation within our accounting systems. Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all royalty-related records.

  4. Reporting: Assist in preparing periodic reports on royalty payment matching, statement trends, and financial performance for internal stakeholders and external partners. Generate ad-hoc reports as requested to facilitate decision making.

  5. Administrative Support: Support the process training for new joiners in the team. Assist with special projects, audits, or other tasks as per requirement.

  6. Internal Audit Assurance: Ensure compliance with contractual agreements, copyright laws, and industry regulations governing royalty payments reported by licensors and royalty due to authors. Stay informed about changes in regulations and implement internal audit best measures as necessary.

  7. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline royalty accounting processes and improve efficiency within the department. Propose and implement process enhancements, automation tools, and best practices to optimize workflows and reduce manual effort.

  8. Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries related to royalty accounting from internal teams, licensors, publishers, or other external partners. Provide timely and accurate responses to queries and collaborate with stakeholders to address issues effectively.

Qualifications:

  • MBA in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification or progress towards certification is a plus.

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting roles, with exposure to royalty accounting or financial operations within the education technology industry preferred.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and royalty calculations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/tools commonly used in the industry.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies or trends.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate financial concepts clearly.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
