JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a skilled and versatile Draftsperson (MechanicalTechnician/Technologist) to join our team in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG’s public outreach,engagement and education efforts as part of the company’s commitment to growing its social license.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare all types of Mechanical, Electrical and Civil drawings and sketches for equipment and piping systems for the purpose of design, procurement of materials, fabrication and installation in a Hydro generating station utilizing AutoCAD technology. More specifically, this involves the preparation or revision of detail and to analyze drawings for fabrication and construction, providing all pertinent information, such as, pipe sizing, valves, fittings, instrumentation locations, piping and tubing runs, erecting dimensions and pipe supports.

  • Prepare bills of material to accompany given drawings.

  • Prepare and revise electrical and mechanical-type operational flowsheets.

  • Participate in walkdowns of the plant to ensure configuration management is supported.

  • Requires a general knowledge of the various functional relationships associated with a multi-discipline Drawing Office.

  • A thorough understanding of the interface with Mechanical Design is deemed necessary as well as a less thorough understanding of the interfaces with other common design disciplines (Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control).

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the use of AutoCad and Raster Design.

EDUCATION

  • High School or equivalent, and two-year college diploma in a related field of study.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years (4,000 hours) drafting experience required

  • 5-8 years within Power Generation/industrial setting preferred

  • Proficient with Autocad and Raster Design

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and mathematical abilities

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
