This position is a hybrid working model and will require frequent onsite presence, with some remote work as well on a rotating basis. The New School is looking for a motivated, customer service oriented VoIP Network Engineer who will focus on our enterprise telephony network. We ask that you have knowledge of networking, such as basic design and networking fundamentals. Experience with cloud telephony services is highly desirable. You will also work with others in the networking group in areas such as routing, switching, and other core networking functions, as related to VoIP. The Team You will be a part of the networking team and report to the Director of this group. Role Responsibilities: Maintain a complex enterprise on-premise deployment of Cisco phone technology. Lead, with team support, the migration of the current phone system to a cloud-based system, using Cisco or potentially other cloud telephony vendors. Maintain the call center infrastructure at the university. Provide ongoing operational support and troubleshooting of production networking issues, with a strong emphasis on VoIP. Provide Level-3 training and technical support for the University Service Desk. Required Technical Qualifications: Five years of direct hands-on experience in IP telephony and related network services. Experience with all major Cisco telephone applications, including Call Manager, Unity, Emergency Responder. Technical experience managing Call Center applications, including scripting, call routing, and reporting. Hands-on knowledge of Cisco Contact Center is needed. Deep understanding of VoIP call flow and routing, including SIP. Experience upgrading existing phone systems and/or enterprise phone system migrations. Excellent understanding of the technical relationship between networking architecture, VoIP system architecture, and third-party telephony carriers. Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and solving complex technical problems. Preferred Technical Qualifications: Knowledge of networking protocols and networking theory. Fundamental hands on work with Cisco routers and switches, including configuration and deployment. Experience with call analysis tools, monitoring tools, and work with Call Detail Records. Experience with relevant telephony management and monitoring tools. Additional Requirements: Bachelorâ™s degree. You enjoy working with an interactive, diverse team and contributing your voice to the conversation. You can discuss technical issues equally well with technical and non-technical people. Excellent documentation skills, using tools such as Visio, Excel, and Word. You can work on weekends, early mornings, and evenings, when needed. You look forward to projects big and small, from large telephone system migrations to improving and updating documentation. Ability to manage and work with vendors and outside contractors as needed. Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy. WORK MODE Hybrid/Remote - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice . Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. Employees hired for this position will have regularly scheduled time on campus that involves a one week rotation for each team member as set on the IT calendar.  SALARY RANGE $100,000 - $130,000 per annum  We look forward to receiving your application!
