Job: Temporary Nurse Practitioner Job Summary: The Primary Care Health Service at Barnard College seeks a dedicated and experienced full-time Nure Practitioner through June 2025. The successful candidate will provide high-quality medical care to students, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive health services. This role includes clinical assessment and treatment, management of acute and chronic conditions, participation in on-call coverage, community and campus partner outreach, and the supervision and education of health care staff--other duties as assigned. The position is primarily clinical (70-80%), with 20-30% allocated administrative time. It is full-time, in person, 5 days a week with participation in the after-hours on-call rotation schedule. Job Description: Key Responsibilities: Direct Clinical Care Deliver comprehensive primary care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. Obtain extensive health histories, considering psychosocial, cultural, and environmental aspects. Perform comprehensive physical and gynecological examinations. Order and interpret diagnostic laboratory and imaging tests. Formulate and implement treatment plans based on evidence-based guidelines. Identify and manage acute and chronic health problems using various modalities, including lifestyle counseling. Make appropriate referrals for specialty care, hospitalization, or emergency care. Evaluate patient responses to care plans, make necessary modifications, and ensure appropriate follow-up. Serves in a consultative role to the clinical team and serves as clinical administrator on duty within the clinic Lead the clinical team in emergency procedures. Participate in the after-hours on-call system to provide continuous care for students. Document all clinical interactions in the electronic health records system. Develop educational presentations for clinical staff and assist the Assistant VP of Health and Wellness coordinate clinical meetings. Community and Campus Partner Outreach Serve as the liaison from PCHS to the LeFrak Foundation Center for Health and Well-being. Establish and maintain partnerships with campus and community organizations to enhance student health services. Develop and deliver workshops and presentations on various health topics tailored to the student population's needs. Collaborate with campus partners to integrate health services into broader wellness initiatives. Participate in campus health and wellness programs, providing expert guidance and support. Engage in health promotion activities, including developing health education materials and programs. Patient Education and Health Promotion Provide individualized health education, anticipatory guidance, and screening to promote and maintain health. Refer patients to other clinicians or health educators for further information or specialized care. Guide patients in preventive strategies using evidence-based techniques. Patient Communication Communicate with patients regarding test results, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions via phone or secure messaging. Ensure patients receive clear, accurate information to make informed healthcare decisions. Uphold patient rights, confidentiality, and dignity in all interactions. Foster positive patient relations and a supportive care environment. Collaboration, Consultation, and Teaching Collaborate with other clinical staff members on joint patient management. Precept Adolescent Medicine Fellows from local teaching hospitals during their rotations. Present current medical issues, protocols, and research to clinical staff. Skills, Qualifications & Requirements: Required Qualifications NYS RN and NP Licenses and ANCC Board Certification. BLS, ACLS, PALS (if applicable) Certification DEA Certification Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in college health or a similar environment. Preferred Qualifications WHNP or FNP preferred Training in adolescent medicine, reproductive health/sexual health, gynecologic care, trans care, and LGBTQ+ health. Trained in gynecologic procedures (cervical cancer screening, IUD placement, Nexplanon placement) Experience in diagnosing and managing eating disorders and integrating mental health into primary care practice Trained in trauma-informed care Strong commitment to health promotion, disease prevention, and evidence-based practice. Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Ability to manage both clinical and administrative responsibilities effectively. Experience in community outreach and health education is highly desirable. Working Conditions: Fully in-person role, based on the Barnard College campus. Participation in an after-hours on-call schedule is required. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary for outreach or educational activities. This position is through June 2025. Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
