Position Summary The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics is looking to hire Technician B to work in the laboratory of Dr. Sobolevsky. The candidate will be technical support staff for the Principal Investigator and other lab investigators, as needed. Responsibilities Duties will include, but are not limited to the following: Setting up equipment for experiments. Carry out molecular biology of the transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, their disease variants, small and large expression in eukaryotic cell lines. Analyze constructs using Fluorescence-detection Size-Exclusion Chromatography (FSEC), TRP channel protein purification, cryo-EM sample preparation, transmission electron microscope (TEM) data collection and processing and 3D cryo-EM density reconstruction. Molecular model building and analysis. Perform calcium uptake measurements using fluorescent probe fura-2. Keeping records of the results of experiments. Ordering and maintaining lab supplies. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor?s Degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with eukaryotic cell culture and molecular biology is preferred but not necessary. Some laboratory experience may be preferred. While experience with TRP channels, molecular and structural biology is preferable, we are looking for a candidate who has dedication, scientific curiosity, and a desire to learn.
