The Abate-Shen laboratory in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Staff Associate I to provide research support. The laboratory's research is related to the development and analyses of mouse models of cancer. The candidate will conduct research and supervise activities of laboratory staff. Responsibilities will include oversight of research activities including laboratory-based research and activities related to the analyses of mutant mice. a. Functional Knowledge Must have functional knowledge of analyses of mouse models of cancer, extensive experience in mouse husbandry and genotype is essential and must be knowledgeable in the development and analyses of mouse models of cancer. - 30% b. Problem Solving Works with a team to evaluate mouse models phenotypes - 20% c. Decision Making/Autonomy Carries out research projects with limited PI supervision both collaboratively and independently. - 15% d. Technical Expertise Must have extensive technical expertise in analyses of mouse models of cancer. - 30% e. Communication Must have excellent written communication skills, particularly the ability to clearly record data in written form or on a computer and to write and maintain experimental protocols and summarizes and explains information to others. - 5% Bachelor's degree in a specific research field.
