Greene Science Center on Columbia's Manhattanville campus, the state-of-the-art building offers an environment where the highest level of scholarly scientific research takes place daily, with the benefit of being located in the heart of New York, one of the world's most vibrant and culturally rich cities. The Churchland Laboratory, part of the Theory Center at the Zuckerman Institute seeks a Staff Associate I to work in a cutting-edge neuroscience laboratory where they will assist in experiments investigating the neural control of movement. The Staff Associate I will support the development of methods for analyzing large-scale multi-neuronal recordings from brain areas over multiple experiments. The Staff Associate I will work within guidelines to carryout assigned duties under the direction of the PI. The Staff Associate I will engage in the following: Design and construct experiment equipment, using CAD and 3-D printing Analyze behavioral and neural activity data using Matlab and/or Phython Aid in the collection of data from trained animals, identify and procure relevant experimental equipment Code experimental software using Simulink / Matlab / C Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or other related area with a minimum of 4 years of related experience. Experience should be related to advanced aspects of data analysis, either in industry or during academic research. Well-honed coding abilities, and a strong working knowledge of the following: Matlab/Simulink, Python, C Experience setting up computer systems and IT Exposure to CAS (Computer-Aided Design) and 3D printing Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Pay Transparency Disclosure The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
