The Califano Lab in the Department of Systems Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Staff Associate I to effectively support research activities in Systems Biology from the perspective of testing complex cell regulatory networks in cancer. Specifically, the incumbent will assist in improving the automated pipelines, performing analysis from patient-derived data, prioritizing drugs and drug combinations targeting molecularly distinct subpopulations coexisting in the same tumor mass and assist senior scientists in the lab with experimental validation of Master Regulator proteins using tumor-specific cell lines. The incumbent will interact and work with a team of computational and experimental scientists, providing support to the experimental design, analysis and interpretation of computational and experimental data generated. Duties: GPU implementation of ARACNe3 and MINDy3 algorithms, translate algorithms developed by the Califano lab to Python and release them as Python and R packages , support lab scientists to boost the lab Github repository as a resource for the research team. Support experimental scientists by performing various biochemistry and molecular biology techniques including PCR, qRT-PCR, Western Blotting, IHC and ELISA. Analysis of scRNA-Seq sequencing data generated in the wet lab. Contribute to the generation of figures for grants submissions and manuscripts preparations. Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology or related field. 1 year of experience in computational systems biology and bioinformatics and 2+ semesters of work experience in an experimental lab setting.
