Lead Open Source Science (OSS) projects and activities, meteorological field deployments, geospatial surveying and pursue funding opportunities in these areas within the Environmental Flow Physics Laboratory. Closely interact with funding agencies and project partners to deliver project deliverables. Lead the design and development of diverse and complex geospatial services and analysis tools. Lead the design of field deployments and implement data retrieval, analysis, visualization, and sharing tools. Participate in a dynamic team of scientists, researchers, students, and programmers to develop scientific applications and develop and conduct data analysis and visualization. Essential Functions: Collaborate closely with project sponsors, partners, and researchers to execute projects successfully, playing a leading role in field deployment, geospatial data development, data analysis and visualization activities. This will often include close interactions with staff from federal and state agencies, universities, and international organizations. (20%) Purse funding opportunities in the areas of open source science, field deployment, data analysis, data visualization, and other software development activities. (20%) Publish research articles related to funded projects and contribute to project reporting activities. (20%) Train and supervise researchers (GRA, TA) and students (undergraduate, graduate) contributing to funded projects. (15%) Contribute to development and maintenance of technical documents. (15%) Keep abreast of new geospatial analysis techniques, remote sensing and in-situ measurement technologies, and assist with the adoption of appropriate ones. (10%) Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Environmental / Civil / Political Science or a related field and 15 years experience; Master's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
