The Senior Staff Associate I, in the Center for Innovation in Imaging Biomarkers and Integrated Diagnostics (CIMBID) at Columbia University and the Department of Radiology at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC), will primarily be responsible for extraction of clinical information from medical record and delineation of pathologies on brain images. Through their efforts, the staff associate will create the ground truth for development and validation of machine learning models to guide treatment decisions in cerebrovascular diseases. Duties · 30% : Researches and collects data through review of medical records. · 30%: Assist with delineation of different pathologies on brain images. · 20% : Records and compiles information related to research data imported from other centers. · 10% : Formulates and help with design of new analysis. · 10%: Assists in data interpretation and analyses. Reports on status of research activities. Functional Knowledge · Expertise in medical record review and abstraction · Familiarity with brain CT and MRI scans · Basic statistical analysis Problem Solving · Solves a broad range of complex problems related to medical image segmentation · Resolving issues with medical record abstraction · Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information Decision Making/Autonomy · The position requires the ability to execute data abstraction independently · Works independently while working in a collaborative research environment Leadership · In consultation with the Director of HTS Core, able to recommend and implement improvements to processes. · Provides guidance to junior team members Technical Expertise · Abstraction of medical record · Work with data compilation software and REDcap · Medical image processing – specifically brain MRI and head CT Communication Skills · Ability to effectively communicate with collaborators and organize schedules. · Explains complex information; collaborates with others to build consensus. Minimum Qualifications · Bachelor's degree in biology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Minimum of 1 year of related work experience · Meticulous, attention to detail and focus on accuracy · Well-organized and good time management skills Preferred Qualifications · Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred · Experience with informatics a plus Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Pay Transparency Disclosure The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
