We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Laboratory Associate to provide technical leadership and contribute to the development of ClimateIQ, an AI-driven climate risk tool supported by Google.org. The ideal candidate will have experience in spatial analysis, spatial database management, and software development to analyze, manage, and visualize complex spatial data. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the overall GIS, spatial, and software engineering capabilities for ClimateIQ and within the Lab, provide cloud-based data management, and collaborate closely with the Lab?s Director and a team of climate modelers and researchers. Responsibilities: Lead software engineering and cloud-based integration for the ClimateIQ modeling environment. Manage spatial databases, cleaning, preparation, and conversion procedures to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and security of geospatial data. Implement data transformation and spatial interpolation for aggregation and disaggregation pipelines to enhance the functionality and user experience of the ClimateIQ software platform. Perform software development and write software documentation as needed Participate in ongoing meetings with members of the ClimateIQ team and the Urban Systems Lab Stay abreast of advancements in geospatial technology, software engineering, and climate modeling to inform ongoing development efforts. In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $65,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. Master?s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Environmental Science, Geospatial Analysis, or a related field. Proficiency in GIS, remote sensing, and geospatial programming (Python, R, JavaScript, Google Earth Engine). Experience developing geospatial applications and decision-support tools. Strong knowledge of data visualization platforms (Tableau, D3.js, or similar). Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary research environments.
