Position Summary Reporting to the Director for Financial Services, the Senior Financial Analyst will facilitate the monitoring, analysis and reporting of the financial activity related to the utility budget. S/He will be accountable in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Facilities and Operations? web-based tracking software Energy Management System ?Energy CAP?. Responsibilities The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for updating data warehouse SQL related spreadsheets to ensure accuracy of all financial reports. Generate complex SQL queries and scripts to transform and aggregate data. Utilizing a wide array of University and departmental systems, the Senior Financial Analyst gathers data, prepares reports and performs proactive audits to identify discrepancies and variances. In collaboration with senior management in Facilities & Operations and other University departments, the Sr. Financial Analyst will resolve inconsistencies pass on updates and rectify processing issues. The Senior Financial Analyst maintains the accuracy of various financial analyses and reports used to forecast building utility usage and rates, staff payroll, service contract expenses, and other financial activity. They will process standard and other recurrent financial transactions in accordance with University and departmental accounting standards and procedures, develop and review incremental utility expenses based on proposed capital projects using benchmarking data. The Senior Financial Analyst works independently on research projects and is responsible for completing reconciliations and reports to meet departmental and University finance deadlines, including those associated with monthly, quarterly and fiscal year-end close. The Senior Analyst will take the lead to prepare complex and intricate carbon emissions reports and analysis to ensure compliance with the University?s commitments i.e. NYC Mayor?s Carbon Challenge & The Climate Registry. Utilize web-based tracking software ?Energy CAP? for benchmarking and reporting of energy data as necessary or required for compliance to Federal, State and Local Laws. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor?s Degree required. Advanced degree desirable. A minimum of 4-6 years of accounting/reporting/budgeting experience required. Strong technical skills required, including familiarity with SQL queries and other data mining methods, extensive reporting and data analysis experience, and advanced Excel proficiency. Ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines necessary. Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills are essential.
