Job Type: Support Staff - Union Bargaining Unit: SSA Regular/Temporary: Regular End Date if Temporary: Hours Per Week: 35 Salary Range: 42,397.74 - 43,669.67 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The Secretary will provide administrative support for the daily activities of the Student Health and Counseling Services. Responsibilities include greeting students/patients, scheduling mental health appointments, copying confidential medical information, answering phones, and organizing and maintaining office supplies. The Secretary will also be required to cross cover with other administrative staff, including the Administrative Assistant in the Mental Health and Medical Services Front Desk area. Performs other duties as required Responsibilities Greet and check-in students/patients Create and maintain the schedules in the electronic health record Schedule appointments for students/patients Collect and process forms for students/patients Maintain inventory of office supplies Collect, reconcile and process clinic daily receipts for deposit Process confidential medical record requests Daily mail pick up and distribution Assist with daily reconciliation of daily receipts and pick up checks as needed Create and follow up on Facilities and Telecommunication requests. Respond to and resolve insurance and billing related inquires via phone, email and in-person visits Organize and maintain the multi-purpose room for Faculty/staff conferences & meetings Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Requires the completion of a secretarial program or equivalent plus at least six months of related experience. Must have ability to work 11:00 a.m. ? 7:00 p.m. Mon-Thurs and 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Friday (Must be flexible for hours during the summer) Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of MS Windows Office Professional Excellent customer service skills Ability to work and negotiate with diverse constituencies Ability to set priorities and exercise sound judgment Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a small team of dedicated employees, resolving systematic problems in a proactive way Excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
