The Rockefeller University seeks a Research Assistant, Chemical Immunology and Proteomics to join Chemical Immunology and Proteomics. The Research Assistant will join the newly established Laboratory of Chemical Immunology and Proteomics and will support general Laboratory operations in the areas of purchasing, laboratory organization, and laboratory safety. The Research Assistant will have a significant impact on the long-term design and culture of the Laboratory and will have evolving responsibilities. Will work directly with the Head of the Laboratory to establish both the organization and culture of the Laboratory and will have extensive opportunities to gain new skills through interactions with colleagues and collaborators in other labs. Responsibilities will include helping set-up equipment, ordering and receiving reagents, establishing and maintaining laboratory organization, and performing experiments to validate cell lines, reagents, equipment, and mass-spectrometry procedures. After initial set-up, the Research Assistant will work with the Head of Laboratory, graduate students, and postdocs on lab work including tissue culture, flow cytometry, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, mass-spectrometry, and standard molecular biology to support ongoing projects. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to develop an independent research project within the scope of the Laboratory's interests, under the mentorship of the Head of Laboratory. Bachelor's degree in science required; Master's degree in science preferred. Must have the ability to pick up new techniques and work independently once objectives are explained. Practical experience performing standard laboratory techniques and interest in the biological or biomedical sciences required. Must have strong organizational, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills. Practical experience performing standard laboratory techniques required. Programming and bioinformatics experience is desirable (e.g., proficiency in R, Python, or SQL).
