Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success (Provost's Office) POSITION DETAILS Hunter College, the largest of the senior colleges in The City University of New York system, with an enrollment of approximately 23,000 including more than 6,000 graduate students, is an anchor institution, leveraging its intellectual, human, and physical capital in partnership with others to advance human understanding, spur innovation, and catalyze economic vibrancy. Offering a wide range of baccalaureate, master?s, and doctoral degree programs in more than thirty academic departments and professional schools, as well as participating in the Ph.D. program of The City University of New York, Hunter College has been a leading engine of social mobility for every generation of New Yorkers since the college?s founding in 1870, especially the newest Americans. We seek a Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success who will have responsibility for academic leadership and ensuring academic excellence; faculty recruitment, retention, and development; assessment of student learning; long-range academic development; program planning and review; curricular innovation; research initiatives; and supervision of the graduate student enrollment management processes, as well as vital centers, institutes, and special programs of the College. The Provost and Senior Vice President reports to the President and is the College?s chief academic officer, with responsibility for enhancing the overall academic life of the institution. The Deans of Hunter?s Schools of Arts and Sciences, Education, Health Professions, Nursing, and Social Work report to the Senior Vice President. In addition, the Dean of the Libraries and Chief Librarian, Director of Research Administration, the Hunter College Campus Schools, and other academic centers/institutes and related support services report to the Senior Vice President. QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must have a strong commitment to the goals of urban, public higher education in a multicultural, multi-racial environment, have the scholarly accomplishments commensurate with the rank of a tenured full professor, and a demonstrated track record of cultivating publicly engaged scholarship. They also must have demonstrated the ability to coordinate with Student Affairs on enrollment, retention, and student success initiatives, as well as experience with accreditation processes, online program development, and conceiving and implementing collaborative initiatives with community partners including educational, professional, and community organizations. Further criteria include: successful administrative and teaching experience at the collegiate level; experience with funded research; an understanding of the strengths and limitations of new teaching and research technologies; a demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff in fostering academic change and growth; a commitment to graduate and professional education; willingness to plan and participate in the College?s on-going private fundraising efforts; an appreciation of the importance of a liberal arts education and the College?s undergraduate missions; and knowledge and appreciation of the complexities facing a comprehensive college in the 21st century. This position is in CUNY?s Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a bachelor?s degree and eight years? related experience. CUNY TITLE Vice President COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary commensurate with education and experience, within the approved salary range $280,000 to $331,735.
