Position Summary

The Physician Assistant will be responsible for assisting the daily clinical operations of the Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiology PET laboratory within the Cardiology Division. The incumbent will triage all clinical questions and concerns from patients, provide education support regarding different cardiac stress protocols, and obtain/review lab results under the direction of the MD. S/he will assist in cardiac imaging research programs and quality improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Documenting all clinical information in the electronic health record system.

  • Ordering medications.

  • Monitoring the phlebotomy room and supplies.

  • Placing orders as needed.

  • Performing basic procedures as requested by treating physicians, which including administering IV medications and radioisotopes.

  • Performing electrocardiograms, checking blood pressure, and conducting phlebotomy for designated patients.

  • Assisting in cardiac imaging research programs and quality improvement projects.

  • Perform other responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, plus four years of experience as a physician assistant.

  • NCCPA Certification and NYS PA Licensure.

  • BLS and ACLS certification required.

  • Must have excellent personal qualities and customer service skills.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills necessary.

  • Must have experience with data collection and basic analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years of experience in cardiology, critical care, stress testing, and/or internal medicine preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Must successfully complete systems training requirements.

  • Participation in Medical Surveillance Program.
