Job: Lecturer - Psychology of Perception and Research Methods Position Description: The Department of Psychology at BARNARD COLLEGE, COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY seeks a Lecturer to start July of 2025. The Lecturer load at Barnard is 6 courses per year; and teaching expectations include Perception laboratory, Behavioral Research Methods and Analysis, and Introduction to Psychology Laboratory, along with a seminar of the candidate's choosing. The Lecturer position is full-time, with opportunities for review and renewal at the 3rd year and promotion at the 7th year of service (to Senior Lecturer). Responsibilities also include maintaining a scholarly profile (either via use of thesis students to conduct research, collaboration with colleagues, or by writing articles or books independently), advising undergraduates in the Psychology major, and performing departmental and college-level service as appropriate for the candidate's rank. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in psychology at time of appointment, proven capacity for teaching excellence in Methods and Perception, experience advising and mentoring at the college level, and the ability and desire to perform service within the department and college. We are especially interested in candidates who are able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds. Review of applications will begin on November 1. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
