Lecturer, Doctoral Schedule in Languages (TESOL)-Curriculum and Teaching Job ID 24348 Location Hunter College Full/Part Time Full-Time Regular/Temporary Regular FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT The Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) Program in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at Hunter College of the City University of New York invites applications for a position at the rank of Doctoral Lecturer. This is a full-time position (5-year renewable contract) with eligibility for a Certificate of Continuous Service . The Doctoral Lecturer will serve the following roles: (1) Aid in the coordination of a new course for undergraduate and graduate students addressing the needs of PK-12 multilingual learners of English in the content areas in NYC DOE public schools, (2) Teach TESOL content courses to TESOL MA students such as PK-12 methods, pedagogical grammar, and instructed second language acquisition (3) Supervise student teachers in our TESOL Adult and PK-12 programs, and (4) Maintain an active research agenda. Applicants must also have a commitment to work in multicultural and urban education settings. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Earned Doctorate in TESOL or Applied Linguistics or related field by August 2022 Expertise in TESOL subjects such as pedagogical grammar/lexis and instructed second language acquisition Experience in designing curriculum and instruction focused on justice, equity, diversity and inclusion Bilingual or proficient in language(s) other than English Demonstrated expertise in online pedagogies Expertise in content-based language instruction Experience facilitating teacher professional learning Strongly Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching adult English language learners in the U.S. or internationally Professional certification in TESOL Demonstrated expertise in collaborative and interdisciplinary projects At least 3 years of recent PK-12 language classroom teaching experience Vaccine Requirement: Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. COMPENSATION Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience within the range of $55,677 to $80,462.
