The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The Laboratory Supervisor will be expected to perform Cytogenetic lab procedures in Cancer Cytogenetics leading to the formation of an accurate diagnosis as well as problem-solve. The Laboratory Supervisor will participate in instrumentation utilization, training, quality control, lab manual preparation/revision, proficiency testing and other duties as assigned by the lab director and manager. The incumbent is expected to work efficiently and should be able to determine the most effective use of time to ensure that other duties as assigned do not overlap. Weekend hours may occasionally be necessary. Responsibilities 40% Coordinate, direct and organize daily laboratory operations 35% Perform laboratory tasks designed to diagnose chromosomal abnormalities from patient specimens 10% Maintain clinical and internal documents, files and records 5% Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and ensure laboratory compliance with all Federal and State regulatory agencies 5% Provide support lab support such as assisting with evaluation of new protocol or tests 5% Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training, and experience, plus three years of related experience. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of CAP, JCAHO, New York State and Federal regulations and recommendations Other Requirements The candidate must be authorized, licensed or license eligible to practice as a clinical laboratory technologist/technician according to New York State licensure requirements.
