The Jensen laboratory of the Translational Research Center and Pain Research Center of New York University College of Dentistry seeks an enthusiastic and skilled junior research scientist. The position will provide support to a research team of junior faculty, post-doctoral fellows and students. The Jensen laboratory is focused on G protein-coupled receptor regulation in various pathological conditions like chronic itch, pain, and inflammation and in developing new therapeutics to target receptor signaling to treat chronic disease states. In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $40,000 - $50,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. Bachelor?s degree in biology, chemistry or other life sciences required. Experience is required in standard techniques of molecular and cell biology and biochemistry, including RT-PCR, molecular cloning, transformation, transfection, cell culture, BRET, FRET, genotyping, and immunofluorescence. Responsibilities will include: generating and maintaining cell lines and primary neurons; analyzing signaling pathways in cells using biophysical approaches; management of multiple colonies of genetically modified mice; and general laboratory management and maintenance. Applicants should be technically skilled, possess excellent organizational and communication abilities, and be familiar with programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and GraphPad Prism.
