The NYU Stern Marketing Department seeks a highly skilled and motivated individual for a full-time Junior Research Scientist position for a period of one year. The Junior Research Scientist will work with faculty members at NYU Stern's Marketing Department. The research projects are at the boundary between Business Analytics/Quantitative Marketing and Industrial Organization. The topics include: - Digital Marketing - Pricing - Consumer choice and search behaviors - Large scale field experiments - Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence applications in Marketing/Advertising (Natural language processing, Computer vision, Multimedia, Reinforcement Learning) The research projects utilize (i) high-dimensional data that record transactions, prices, offline and online advertising, and other marketing interventions or (ii) unstructured data such as Instagram photos, consumer reviews, livestream shopping videos, voice search spectrogram, or (iii) game-theoretical analytical models or (iv) Qualtrics experimental design. The work requires strong data science skills to scrape, prepare, maintain, manipulate, and analyze the data. The Research Professional will also conduct extensive statistical analyses. A successful applicant will not only perform assigned tasks, but eventually develop increasing levels of independent thinking and creativity. The Research Professional will start at the beginning of June or July 2024, though earlier start dates will be considered. In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,440 - $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. The ideal candidate will have (i) a bachelor's degree or higher in a field relevant to the research (e.g. Economics, Statistics, Marketing, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, Physics, etc.); (ii) a minimum of one year of relevant research experience required—experience gained in school counts towards this requirement; and (iii) proficiency in Python, R, Stata, Matlab, Sas, or C/C /Java, is desirable.
