The Office of Human Resources (OHR) supports a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive employee community at the Graduate Center and at its affiliated CUNY colleges and professional schools, which include Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism and Macaulay Honors College. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Human Resources, the HR Classified Coordinator processes and conducts all activities for the classified civil service staff. The HR Coordinator will be responsible for processing all actions related to classified and managerial civil service employees, including appointments, fingerprinting and/or filing fees, reappointments, promotions, salary increases, level changes, longevity increments/differentials, transfers, andseparations. Duties include but are not limitedto: Utilizes systems and sets protocols to track and update employee data pertaining to staffing levels (e.g. Gittleson floors), probation periods, seniority, longevity increases, continuous service, etc.; May partake in presentations, initiatives (e.g. employee surveys), and forums (e.g. focus groups) to engage and develop civil service and managerial employees; Ensures compliance and proper applicationofvarious civil service contractual rules andregulations; serves as a resource for staff and responds to their questions and/or concerns; Conducts orientation sessions for civil service and classified managerialstaff; supports on-boarding and/or off-boarding of staff; Reviews and accurately processes all OHR related forms including health insurance enrollment, retirement applications, reinstatements, and separations for civil service and classified managerial staff; Participates in Civil Service Hiring pools: assists with interviewing, assessing and identifying talent suitable for hire; completes and submits all related documents to Central Office; Responsible for CUNYfirst data entries for civil service and classified managerialstaff; performs scheduled or ad-hoc data audits of CUNYfirst and PAYSERV records to ensure data integrity; timely reports and corrects data errors; generates reports as needed; Maintains personnel files (both hard copy and electronic formats) for classified civil service staff and responds toquestions; Distributes and ensures probationary and annual performance evaluations are timely completedandreturned for all civil servicestaff; advises appropriate leaders/units (e.g. Learning and Development) of issues requiring corrective action, or meritorious performance deserving of recognition/reward; May supervise supportstaff; Prepares employment verifications and processes transferrequests; Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this job classification. All full-time and part-time CUNY staff are expected to work in-person at their campus office 70% of their work time. For full-time staff, this is equivalent to 7 out of 10 days of in-person work in a two-week period (e.g., 7 days in-person, 3 days remote). Remote days must be pre-approved by the direct supervisor. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to their campus. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of CUNY Civil Service White Collar and Blue Collar contracts. Familiarity with pensions and union benefits. Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) such as PeopleSoft. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to interpret regulations and communicate this information to employees. Ability to work independently, use sound judgement and maintain confidentiality. Ability to prioritize tasks, be detail oriented, and have strong organizational skills. Ability to create presentations.
