The base salary range for this position is $300,000-$450,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short and long-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

The Treasurer of Equitable Holdings is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing various financial functions, including Capital Management, Liquidity and Cash Management, Debt Management, Dividend and Share Buyback Strategy, Reinsurance Strategy, Balance Sheet Management, Rating Agencies, Banking Relationships and Fixed Income Investor Engagement. Additional responsibility includes oversight of company’ spread lending program along with developing and implementing the Hedging Strategy and providing oversight to the Derivatives teams. The Treasurer will lead a team of 30 professionals.

The ideal candidate for this role should possess experience in the insurance industry or the banking sector. A Master's Degree or a CFA qualification is preferred. The Treasurer will be based at the Headquarters office in New York City and is expected to work in-person. This position reports directly to the CFO of Equitable Holdings and holds a seat on the Operating Committee. The Treasurer will collaborate closely with Risk, Investments, M&A, Actuarial, and Business Line leaders to shape the future capital management strategy.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Thought Leadership : Assess potential and emerging risks, identifying opportunities and potential threats to leverage and/or address in strategic and financial planning

  • Capital Management: Develop and execute strategies to optimize the company's capital structure, ensuring efficient allocation of capital and adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Liquidity and Cash Management: Oversee the management of liquidity and cash flow, ensuring adequate funding for operations, investments, and strategic initiatives.

  • Debt Management: Manage the company's debt portfolio, including issuance, refinancing, and compliance with debt covenants.

  • Dividend and Share Buyback Strategies: Develop shareholder return strategies; optimize dividend and share buyback strategies to enhance shareholder value, in line with regulatory guidelines and internal policies.

  • Reinsurance Strategy: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute reinsurance strategies.

  • Balance Sheet Management: Ensure effective management of the company's balance sheet (including statutory and economic balance sheet), including asset-liability management, investment portfolio optimization, and capital allocation.

  • Rating Agencies: Manage relationships with rating agencies, providing necessary information, and ensuring accurate and favorable credit ratings.

  • Banking Relationships: Foster and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, including negotiating favorable terms and conditions for banking services.

  • Fixed Income Investor Engagement: Engage with fixed income investors, providing insights into the company's financial performance, strategy, and capital management initiatives.

  • Hedging Strategy: Develop and implement hedging strategies to manage financial risks, including interest rate, currency, and market risks.

  • Derivatives Team Oversight: Provide leadership and guidance to the Derivatives teams, ensuring effective risk management and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Spread lending program Oversight: Oversee strategies and issuance of company’s spread lending program (including FHLB, FABN, FACP, security lending etc – current total program size of $15bn)

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Risk, Investments, M&A, Actuarial, and Business Line leaders, to inform and shape the go-forward capital management strategy.

  • Reporting and Compliance: Prepare accurate and timely reports on financial performance, capital management activities, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Industry and Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments relevant to capital management and treasury functions.

  • Leadership : Build, lead, and leverage a highly effective team with a strong focus on the development of top talent, and an inclusive culture that values the diversity and engagement of people and teams.

  • Technology & Optimization : Continuously explore opportunities to leverage technology, internal and external partners, and best practice to improve capability and drive efficiency

Qualifications

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will be an accomplished and highly credible financial professional with strong business and financial acumen. Additional qualifications include:

  • Extensive experience in capital management, treasury, or related roles within the insurance industry or banking sector.

  • Strong understanding of insurance products, financial markets, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification (preferred).

  • Proven track record of successfully managing capital, liquidity, and debt management strategies.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in financial modeling, risk assessment, and treasury management systems.

  • Knowledge of rating agency methodologies and experience in managing rating agency relationships.

  • Familiarity with derivatives and hedging strategies.

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
