The Regev Lab in the Computer Science department at NYU Courant is seeking an individual to be appointed as a Full-time Laboratory Associate under the supervision of Dr. Oded Regev. The Regev Lab uses interpretable machine learning techniques to derive insights into biological processes. Using "interpretable-by-design" machine learning models, we are able to 'observe' molecular processes such as RNA processing or translation at the level of individual protein-nucleic acid interactions, resulting in a detailed comprehensive understanding of the underlying biology. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Regev and other members of the lab on cutting-edge research questions using methods such as: - Mammalian cell culture - Basic cloning - Gel electrophoresis - Quantitative and reverse transcription PCR - RNA extraction - Electroporation Primary responsibilities will include: - Conducting experiments in molecular biology - Maintaining a detailed notebook of experimental results - Participating in lab meetings The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, having good written and oral communication skills, and comfortable working both independently and in a group setting. A strong work ethic is expected. Required Skills: A Bachelor's degree (in biological sciences is preferable) Previous research experience, good organizational skills, and ability to make a two to three year commitment. Preferred Skills: Prior experience in a research laboratory is preferred; candidates with an established work history will also be strongly considered. Strong time management and communication skills.
