Description

At Equitable, our power is in our people.

We're individuals from different cultures and backgrounds. Those differences make us stronger as a team and a force for good in our communities. Here, you'll work with dynamic individuals, build your skills, and unleash new ways of working and thinking. Are you ready to join an organization that will help unlock your potential?

The successful candidate will join the Strategic Innovation Group (SIG), one of several teams within the Innovation & Design Office. SIG functions as a high-octane internal consulting firm whose mission is to harness the power of strategic innovation to forge new avenues of growth, uncover hidden opportunities for savings and enhance critical business processes. The team works at the intersection of business and technology, focusing principally on five areas: 1) corporate innovation & investment through its flagship ‘EPIC’ – or ‘Equitable’s People Inspiring Change’ – program; 2) organizational redesign; 3) low code application development, automation and analytics; 4) process re-engineering and 5) competitive research and business case development.

Across all five areas, the individual will partner with senior stakeholders to problem-solve, design and develop impactful solutions. To succeed in this role, the team member will need to be able to work independently but also collaborate with and lead others, thrive in an ambiguous environment and have a relentless focus on outcomes. They will be a builder with low-ego, energized by the challenges that come with creating new things.

What we’re looking for:

A strategic thinker who:

  • Is a first-class problem-solver and excels at breaking down and structuring ambiguous concepts using tools such as MECE frameworks, decision trees and cost-benefit analysis.

  • Is able to explore new domains and grasp complex concepts quickly

  • Leverages outside research and industry trends to provide thought leadership

  • Combines strong logical thinking with the ability to formulate creative solutions

An outcome-driven leader who:

  • Takes ownership of workstreams and relentlessly focuses on driving results

  • Is a “do-er” – can build & structure presentations, conduct analysis and do research

  • Perseveres in the face of challenges and even thrives on uncertainty and ambiguity

  • Shows good judgment about when to get input or ask for help

  • Is low-ego and willing to do whatever it takes to help the team succeed, however small

A compelling listener, communicator, and facilitator who:

  • Actively listens to stakeholders’ needs and can take the perspective of counterparts

  • Synthesizes complex ideas into simple language and actionable next steps

  • Brings people together to build consensus and co-create solutions

  • Exhibits a strong ability (and preference) to influence without authority

  • Demonstrates powerful oral and written communications skills (e.g., can lead executive-level presentations and also write riveting Board-level memos if needed)

Key responsibilities , but are not limited to:

  • Lead or co-lead organizational redesign or process re-engineering engagements (familiarity and experience with Lean Six Sigma and automation a plus)

  • Advance Equitable’s digital adoption and innovation through low-code app solutions to drive business impact (familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform a plus)

  • Lead various confidential strategic projects to support new or existing high-impact, executive-level initiatives

  • Serve as a thought partner on strategy and organizational design matters with business and functional area leaders

  • Conduct competitive market research to bring external perspectives to bear

  • We are looking for a leader who has established analytical skills, understands the financial services space—specifically; the Retirement, Life Insurance and Asset Management industries— is comfortable interacting with executives and is excited to learn and adopt Agile principles & practices.

SIG operates in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities. Candidates must be comfortable working in a high-profile, dynamic environment and must be willing to support various projects, often simultaneously.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities.
