Director of Speech-Language Pathology Title: Director of Speech-Language Pathology Location: Upper East Side Org Unit: Hearing and Speech Work Days: Monday-Friday Exemption Status: Exempt Salary Range: $164,300.00 - $202,100.00 *As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices Position Summary The Director of Speech Language Pathology will provide be responsible to the day to day operations of the Speech, language, voice and swallowing clinical services within the Department of Otolaryngology of Weill Cornell Medicine. This person will demonstrate administrative skill, leadership ability and provide management of all speech-related services. This person participates in day-to-day clinical operations, provides direct clinical care, and oversees the supervision of Speech, language, voice and swallowing staff and technical personnel with the goal of delivering quality clinical care. Job Responsibilities Provides administrative leadership which includes fiscal responsibility, clinical oversight, strategic planning, and compliance with internal and external bodies. Responsible for the recruitment, retention, and management of all speech staff. Maintains current policies and procedures as necessary and provides Departmental guidance regarding evolving trends in speech, language voice and swallowing assessment and rehabilitation. Develops, directs, and participates in the clinical and educational programming for speech, language, voice and swallowing staff. Participates in clinical education for medical residents, physician assistants, medical students, graduate students, and other health professionals. Provides direct clinical supervision of the speech-language pathologists engaged in patient care services to ensure quality patient care. Works with the Director of Audiology to ensure coordination of services for patients with speech hearing swallowing and communication disorders. Works directly with Department Chair and Administrator to ensure proper staffing and services. Membership and participation in speech language pathology-related professional groups. Contributes to speech language voice and swallowing program development and maintains performance of current program operation. Provides review and recommends performance goals for audiology staff. Provides specialized patient care in the area of speech language voice and swallowing, employing techniques consistent with age specific needs for patients throughout the lifespan. Acts as liaison with other departments, physicians, and other specialists, and outside agencies. Supports the Department Chairman in implementing clinical research programs and clinical research activities that improve and advance clinical care. Performs related duties as required by Department Chair. Education Master's degree or Doctorate in Speech Language Pathology Experience Ten years of clinical service with a minimum of five years of supervisory experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Leadership abilities. Strategic Planning Ability to communicate with a wide range of professional employees and entry level employees. Ability to develop, organize, and accomplish goals. Effective problem-solving skills. Knowledge of professional, regulatory, and educational requirements for educational program. Licenses and Certifications Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech- Language and Hearing Association. NYS license in speech language pathology.
