What You Will Achieve

You will advance strategies within a Pfizer Global Supply (PGS) Operating Unit (OpU) to protect colleagues, the environment, our operations and assure compliance. You will have an unequalled opportunity to collaborate with the OpU leader and colleagues across the globe to shape our EHS and BCM programs, ensuring that they are progressive and fit for purpose. You will be influential in growing our organizational capabilities, sustaining a culture of risk management excellence.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Develops and implements EHS and BCM strategy for Operating Unit, in alignment with overall PGS Division and Global EHS strategy. Leverages technical and wider industry knowledge, in alignment with key stakeholders to achieve the strategic needs of the OpU.

  • Provides independent assessment of EHS / BCM performance and conducts reviews to ensure EHS risks at assigned sites are identified, evaluated and effectively managed in compliance with regulatory and Pfizer EHS Management System requirements.

  • Maintains governance processes e.g. Site Operating Risk Model within assigned sites and supports issue management process through ongoing input to ensure currency of the issues management tracker.

  • Escalates vulnerabilities / gaps as appropriate to secure support and drives agreed risk reduction action plans to closure within assigned sites.

  • Provides technical support (either personally or through other colleagues) to sites to maintain or improve performance.

  • Manages escalation process in the event of a significant event or compliance issue. Leads investigation processes for significant EHS / business impact events and communicates lessons learned to drive network improvement.

  • Provides independent counsel on potential or actual significant events or changes that impact operational and compliance performance and develops solutions for complex technical and ambiguous situations.

  • Monitors site EHS / BCM resources, capability, organization and leadership capability, and establishes plan in conjunction with the Operating Unit leader to address gaps.

  • Partners with Sites to manage EHS / BCM talent processes, ensuring succession plans are established for critical roles and supporting effective colleague development.

  • Coaches, mentors and builds capability within site EHS teams to drive continuous improvement and build talent for the future needs of the organization.

  • Establishes forums to foster EHS / BCM collaboration across assigned sites to drive innovation and risk reduction.

  • Promotes innovation and challenges to drive continuous improvement and enhanced performance.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Risk Management or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in chemical, biological or drug product manufacturing.

  • Experience in a broad range of risk management disciplines, including EHS and Business Continuity Management.

  • Technical expertise in one of the following subjects; environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, process safety, biosafety, colleague safety.

  • EHS / BCM leadership experience; including leading complex risk assessment, investigations and technical program development.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to work across multiple countries and cultures.

  • Ability to quickly assess EHS / BCM risks and relate to business implications; and apply that information to secure stakeholder commitment to action.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Nice-to-Have

  • Masters Degree in Environment, Health, Safety; Business Continuity Management or Engineering field preferred.

  • Certified Safety/Environmental/Occ Hygiene/ Business Continuity Management professional.

  • Active current membership in at least one relevant professional body, with a formal continuous professional development requirement.

  • Experience working across disciplines and senior management in a large, complex organization.

  • Track record of leading cross functional and virtual teams in complex environments.

  • Experience working in dynamic complex, matrixed business models.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Due to the nature of work assignments, must be able to perform detailed work with limited oversight on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraints, while maintaining focus on longer term priorities.

  • Overall physical fitness to enable travel to manufacturing locations and to conduct area walkthroughs, audits and inspections. This will require the ability to carry necessary work materials e.g. laptop etc, to stoop; to reach; to sit / stand / walk for extended periods of time; ability to climb stairs; and to use personal protective equipment including respiratory protection and hearing protection

  • Daily interactions with colleagues through face to face or virtual meetings enabled using technology such as Microsoft Teams and video conference requiring ability to effectively exchange ideas and information with colleagues using these systems.

  • Ability to understand, evaluate, interpret and explain multiple complex inputs and provide clear direction.

Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environment Requirements

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (estimated to be 30-50% of time)

  • Ability to work outside standard working hours (early mornings / evenings) to fully participate in an international team; and maintain communications / networks across a geographically diverse network

For roles based in New York City: The annual base salary for this position ranges from $139,300.00 to $232,200.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
