Didactic Coordinator (Medical Distinguished Lecturer) FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master?s Degree (27 months program). True to its legacy of access, opportunity, and community transformation, the medical school?s mission remains to recruit highly talented students as diverse as New York City itself. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean/Program Director, the Didactic Coordinator (Medical Distinguished Lecturer) ? Physician Assistant for the Physician Assistant (PA) Program will perform teaching in areas of expertise and related clinical and faculty duties. The incumbent will be an experienced practitioner or teacher who will hold a full-time, non-tenure track position with a maximum appointment period of seven years, subject to annual reappointment. Distinguished Lecturers share responsibility for committee, program, and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Additional responsibilities for the Didactic Coordinator (Medical Distinguished Lecturer) ? Physician Assistant for the Physician Assistant Program include but are limited to the following: Secure adjunct faculty instructors consistent with the objectives of the PA Program. Maintain on-going program and student evaluation process to ensure quality of teaching for each course within the PA Program; create and revise learning objectives for each course. Revise student handbooks and program policies each year and ensure that each student has all appropriate certifications, immunizations, and any other requirements necessary for clinical clerkships. Provide evaluation of students and instructors, develop student evaluation instruments consistent with the goals of each course, and monitor individual student progress during the didactic year. Develop exams and assessment tools and test item analysis. Participate in program responsibilities such as student admissions, curriculum development and student evaluation. Participate in the duties necessary for program maintenance of accreditation Serve as a Faculty Advisor for professional students Perform related duties as determined by the Assistant Dean/Program Director or Dean. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree and appropriate advanced degree, professional licensure, registration, certification or such other qualifications as may be necessary for the satisfactory performance of his/her duties. Also required are a record of achievement in his/her profession or field of expertise and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. PREFERRED: MD or PhD in medicine with eight years of experience in Physician Assistant education. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Detail-oriented and accurate with strong quantitative, scientific, clinical, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and to promoting a culture that nurtures various forms of inquiry and scholarship, across multiple disciplines. Through understanding of the importance of diversity in academic medicine and experience working in an urban setting. Intrinsically understand the importance of disparities in academic medicine. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills to promote cooperative and collaborative clinical studies with other college and CUNY units as well as academic, clinical, and educational partners and private industry. COMPENSATION Salary range: $130,000 - $150,000 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
