College Laboratory Technician (Equipment Room Manager) - Department of Media & Communication Arts GENERAL DUTIES Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework. Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities Manages equipment and materials inventories. Job Title Name: College Laboratory Technician CONTRACT TITLE College Laboratory Technician FLSA Non-exempt CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION The City College of New York's Media & Communication Arts Department is seeking a College Laboratory Technician (CLT) - Equipment Room Manager. The CLT - Equipment Room Manager, inclose coordination with the Studio Manager and theTech Committee - will oversee undergraduate andgraduate students' reservation of audio/video production equipment.The position isalsoresponsible formaintenance ofexisting equipment as well as research and evaluation of new products and technologies, training, and any relevant in-house technical support to students and faculty.. The ER Manager's responsibilities include, butarenot limited to: Schedule reservations andsupervise proper check-in andcheck-out offieldproductionequipment for MCA students. Createandmaintain Equipment Rental Contract (ERC)formstoreflect technology changesandensureallpackages areuptodate with the inventory and classes offered. Advisestudentsonproperandsafeuseandtransportofcamerasandproductionequipment. Maintainandupdateequipment inventoryandensurethatequipment isorganized accordingtoindustry rental facility standards. Manage,train,andleadstudentsinfederalwork-studyprograms. Performgeneralpreventive maintenance, repairminor damages in-house,andarrangetosendout larger repairs in a timely manner. Maintainatidyequipmentroom,chargereturnedcamerabatteries &formatcardsforthenextusers. Participate intheTechcommittee meetings andadvise faculty regarding theequipment packages that are best suited for the courses offered. Maintaintheonlinepresenceforthereservationandcheck-outsystem. Contact studentsandfacultywhen limited inventory isanticipatedandofferalternatives tomitigatebottlenecks. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degreeinrelatedfield. Previous experience with equipment room management Strongcommunication,organizationalandinterpersonalskills. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff COMPENSATION Salary: $49,050 BENEFITS CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification.
