College Assistant - Academic Initiatives and Strategic Innovation - 3 Vacancies Job ID 24436 Location Graduate Center Full/Part Time Part-Time Regular/Temporary Regular GENERAL DUTIES Under supervision, performs miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of a College or other unit where such work is required on a part-time basis or for a period of limited duration. There is one Assignment Level for this position. All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments; related duties may be assigned as needed. Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year. Performs routine clerical work; may answer and attend to telephone calls; maintain records, operate office machines (such as copier), sort and distribute mail, issue keys and identity cards, act as messenger, and perform related tasks as required. Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials. Acts as cashier. Assists in statistical or research activities. May collect and compile data, code data for computer entry, perform data entry, and run computer reports. Performs clerical library work, such as sorting and shelving books, performing data entry into library systems, or binding books and periodicals. Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics. May assist in speech and hearing therapy, provide musical accompaniment, and/or distribute and collect physical education equipment. Enters and maintains departmental records such as inventory control records, rosters, directories, and schedules. May operate computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment in performing assigned tasks. CONTRACT TITLE College Assistant FLSA Non-exempt CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION The Grammy Museum with the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Academic Initiatives and Strategic Innovation at the Graduate Center present a multimedia exhibit of unique work and artifacts in June 14-July 24, 2022 at the CUNY Graduate Center art gallery(excluding holidays when the building is closed). This exhibit will draw in a diverse public audience to the Graduate Center and showcase the campus?s unique and innovative programming and the connections to the degree programs in music. Job Description: The Office of Academic Initiatives and Strategic Innovation seeks 3 College Assistants (?C/A?) (Visitor Services Representatives)to provide exceptional customer service and accurate information to visitors as well as monitor the exhibit while hosted at the Graduate Center. The C/A must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and able to perform the essential functions of the job. The C/A will work 20 hours per week (including evenings and weekends). Prior to exhibition opening, the Visitor Services Representatives would be expected to attend a training led by the Grammy Museum to learn the content of the exhibit (approx. 2 hours per person) and the opening reception on June 14 in the evening (approx. 4 hours per person). These positions are for the duration of the exhibit (June 14, 2022-July 24, 2022). Essential Functions: -At the beginning of the day turn on and at the end of the day turn off gallery lights, exhibit multimedia, etc. -Greet visitors and offer exhibit information -Track attendance and monitor capacity levels -Assist visitors requiring special accommodations -Resolve any visitor complaints quickly and professionally -Retain general knowledge of the exhibits in order to answer visitor questions (training will be provided) -Politely enforce gallery rules and policies including no food and beverages and no smoking -Clean and maintain gallery space as directed by the Grammy Museum In addition to performing the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by Supervisor. -Assist fellow employees as needed -Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas -Perform other duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS -Aptitude for customer service -Must have a team-oriented attitude -Interest in music or songwriting preferred -Ability to perform tasks concurrently COMPENSATION $15.61/hour - $20.00/hour BENEFITS CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification.
