The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will provide support in Immunohistochemical Laboratory. The incumbent?s responsibilities will include staining a wide range of clinical and research tissues using automated and manual IHC techniques, and preparation of laboratory reagents and working solutions. Perform the required routine maintenance of IHC stainers, including reagents solutions replacement and replenishment. Will also apply and carry out the QA/QC procedures as per policy. Maintain statistical records, and other related logs pertaining to the laboratory. Effectively analyzes, trouble shoots and resolves routine technical issues. Assist in setting up, evaluating and trouble-shooting new protocols. Will file and transport materials; data entry into laboratory system, and other pertinent duties related the functioning of the laboratory. Responsibilities 60% - Staining related activities 15% - Reagent and bulk fluid creation/management and IHC stainers routine maintenance 10% - Statistical record keeping 10% - Slide management/lab maintenance related activity 5% - Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Must hold one of the following licenses: Clinical Laboratory Technologists, Clinical Laboratory Technicians or Certified Histological Technicians. A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related health science field; or equivalent in work experience and education. Preferred Qualifications HT/HTL (ASCP) registered or registration eligible The incumbent must demonstrate excellent microtomy both on paraffin and frozen section. Capable of micro-sectioning at 4 to 5 Must be able to successfully complete systems training requirements Specialized theoretical understanding and practical experience in a particular area of research Experience with statistical analysis of data Experience with highly complex laboratory equipment and/or computer applications Experience in researching the literature applicable to the field and in reporting experimental results Experience in reporting experimental results in publishable form Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with diplomacy and efficiency. Experience with automated staining platforms and associated laboratory procedures strongly preferred Other Requirements Ability to work independently, under limited supervision Ability to perform work in a neat, orderly, and safe manner, and in enforcing safety regulations Must be able to successfully complete systems training requirements. Must be able to work flexible schedule including but not limited to working the early morning hours. Lifting Requirements: periodic lifting and / or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
